I've decided to major in English for some reasons. To begin with, English is my favorite subject. When I was a junior high school student, my teacher always encourged us to communicate with each other in English. Even we made mistakes in speaking English, she would ask us to try again instead of scolding us and that increased my confidence in learning English. In addition, English is an international language. If I can speak English fluently, I can do many things, such as communicating with foreigners without an interpreter, traveling to other countries alone, studying or working abroad and so on. Most importantly, learning a new language can improve my competitiveness and it is a great help in my career. To sum up, it's for all the above-mentioned reasons that I made this decision and I believe it would be very helpful to me.
