  In Taiwan, students have to wear uniforms when they go to school. Although some students think that they look prettier when they wear casual dress, I think that it is convenient if we wear uniforms because we don’t have to spend time thinking about what we should wear before we go to school. Moreover, some students think that they will feel more comfortable if they wear casual wears. However, if we wear uniforms, we will develop a sense of belonging. When we go to school, we will feel as though we were in a big family. In addition, a student can easily be recognized when they take field trips if they wear uniforms. Due to all of these reasons, I think it is better for students to wear uniforms instead of casual wears.

  Last month, Stanley Manufacturing decided to open a factory in Acton which is a clean, quiet town. Though some people oppose that, I think that the new factory will bring some benefit effects to the town for some reasons. To begin with, opening a new factory can provide several vacancies for the residents so that they can have more choices of jobs. Second, many people will move to the town after the factory open. Once the population rises, the town may be turned into a city and develop different types of industries. Third, the residents’ incomes will increase which enables them to live a better life. What’s more, such is the enhancing of the stream of customers that the shopping district near the factory will be thriving and prosperous. For these reasons, I am in favor of opening a factory in Acton.

  Mr. Williams closed his music store on December 19. I find out that there are some reasons to explain this result. First, the store was on a small side street just outside of town and it is 3 miles away from the shopping center. As a customer, I will go to the shopping center instead of the store outside of town. Moreover, most of the CDs in the store were hip-hop and rock. Although the store was located next to the Fairfax Apartment, the residents of the apartment were almost middle-aged and senior citizens. To be obvious, they’re usually not interested in these music styles, so they wouldn’t buy them. In addition, the shop was open on weekdays from 1 to 5 p.m. While most people get off duty or leave school about 5 p.m. As a result, passenger traffic would become few during its business hours. What’s more, Mr. Williams would not accept checks or credit cards and it was inconvenient to customers who didn't have cash on hand. Due to all of these reasons, one must conclude that the business must be slack and eventually closed down.

  Many people drink coffee to stimulate themselves every day. However, according to the opinion of experts, drinking too much coffee may have negative effects on our health for it contains caffeine. Firstly, you may suffer from insomnia every night and that you will be low-spirited next day, which makes you be unable to focus on your work. In addition, you could feel your heart beating fast or irregularly if you drink more than four cups of coffee a day. Supposing that you don’t go to see a doctor for a treatment, it might become a serious heart disease. Moreover, heavy caffeine would make gastrointestinal problems that cause you to feel nausea or have a stomachache. To sum up, never drink too much coffee a day, or it will be harmful to your health.

  I've decided to major in English for some reasons. To begin with, English is my favorite subject. When I was a junior high school student, my teacher always encourged us to communicate with each other in English. Even we made mistakes in speaking English, she would ask us to try again instead of scolding us and that increased my confidence in learning English. In addition, English is an international language. If I can speak English fluently, I can do many things, such as communicating with foreigners without an interpreter, traveling to other countries alone, studying or working abroad and so on. Most importantly, learning a new language can improve my competitiveness and it is a great help in my career. To sum up, it's for all the above-mentioned reasons that I made this decision and I believe it would be very helpful to me.

  Recently, the authority suggests to build the fourth nuclear power station in Taipei. Though some people say that using nuclear produces less air pollution, I think that the nuclear waste will pollute the environment if it doesn’t be disposed carefully. Some people point out that we can spend less money if we use nuclear power to generate electric power. However, it is more and more difficult to find a place to put the nuclear waste. Moreover, nuclear power could be dangerous if we use it carelessly or when natural disasters happen. To sum up, it is for all the above-mentioned reasons that I believe we should not use nuclear power too much.

  I am hiring a new English instructor for my school, and I received Lynn Whitnall’s and Debra Fines’ resumes. After I read the resumes, I decided to hire Debra Fines. Here are the reasons why I made this decision. Firstly, Debra got five degrees, while Lynn got only one. It is no doubt that Debra studied English longer that Lynn. Moreover, Debra has more employment experience than Lynn. I think that a person who is veteran will work more efficiently. Although Lynn masters more languages than Debra dose, they are not English. So I think that she is not suitable for the job. That’s why I want to hire Debra Fines.
